Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a monthly supply of food, nutritionally designed for individuals 60 years of age and older, to enhance monthly groceries. Participants select what they need from specific food options.  There is no cost for participants.

Eligible Individuals

  • Are 60 years or older
  • Live in Minnesota
  • Prepare their own meals and do not live in a facility that provides meals.
  • Meet income guidelines
  • Individuals may also qualify by being enrolled in a Federal or State assistance program:
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Medicare Savings Program

Participants receive an average of $55 worth of food each month. Some foods may vary, but the CSFP Food Package includes:

  • Plant-based proteins such as lentils, canned beans, and peanut butter
  • Canned meats such as beef stew, beef chili with beans, chicken, tuna, and salmon in water
  • Canned vegetables and fruits
  • Dairy items such as shelf-stable milk, dry milk, and locally made American cheese

Otter Tail County has five distribution sites. If a distribution site isn’t located where you live, you may use the site nearest to you.
