Safe Communities Coalition
The Otter Tail County Safe Communities Coalition is a local advocacy group for Minnesota’s statewide Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) traffic safety program. The coalition is made up of members from the sectors of engineering, enforcement, education, emergency medical & trauma services, and community members.
Our mission is to drive our county towards zero deaths on our roadways by developing community partnerships and promoting and implementing effective traffic safety initiatives.
What we do
- Yearly “Click it for Coffee” seat belt safety campaign
- Crosswalk and roundabout education seminars
- Impact speakers for schools and other community groups
About Toward Zero Deaths
TZD, a program of the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, is an initiative that promotes effective traffic safety strategies, pursues public support of traffic safety as a priority, and has the goal of brining Minnesota roadway deaths to zero.
Minnesota TZD’s mission is to create a culture for which traffic fatalities and serious injuries are no longer acceptable through the integrated application of education, engineering, enforcement, and emergency medical and trauma services. These efforts will be driven by data, best practices, and research.
