Community Partnerships for Suicide Prevention

The Otter Tail County Community Partnerships for Suicide Prevention is a coalition made up of about 30 members, all with unique professional and personal experience. Funded by the Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Grant from the Minnesota Department of Health, this group will meet from July 2023 through June 2027 to discuss and implement various mental health and suicide prevention efforts throughout Otter Tail County.

Vision Statement: The OTC Community Partnerships for Suicide Prevention envisions an engaged community that is free from judgement and united in fostering hope and saving lives.

Mission Statement: Rooted in the belief that every life is valuable, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment and to promote wellbeing for all people by offering hope, building support, and preventing suicide across all of Otter Tail County.

This Comprehensive Plan is a community led assessment of mental health in Otter Tail County and recommendations for impactful change. It is a summary of suicide and mental health trends, concerns, root causes, community strengths, assets, priorities, and opportunities for improvement and change. This plan will be updated and followed throughout the life of the Otter Tail County Community Partnerships for Suicide Prevention.

Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Planning Group Findings

The Otter Tail County (OTC) Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Planning Group is a multi-disciplinary group of individuals working together to create a comprehensive plan for suicide prevention efforts. The goal of these efforts is to achieve maximum impact on mental health promotion and suicide prevention in our communities. The planning group was convened during the Fall of 2021 to address community mental health needs and amplify the current work occurring among key stakeholders and community members. The efforts of the planning group will inform future mental health promotion, suicide prevention programming, and enhance collaboration among all stakeholder groups.
