Single Sort Recycling

Single Sort Recycling

Single sort (sometimes referred to as single stream) recycling refers to recycling that can all go together and does not need to be sorted. In Otter Tail County, the cities of Fergus Falls and Perham have municipal single sort recycling programs.

Residents located in the southeast quadrant of the county (see below for coverage details) are eligible for single sort collection from their waste hauler.

Collection will begin in January 2027 for some residents in the northeast quadrant of the county. View the Northeast Quadrant Single Sort Recycling project for more details.

Current source-separated drop-off sites will remain open for all residents throughout the county.

Program Opt-Out

If you do not wish to participate in the recycling program, please complete the following form.

All items currently accepted for recycling at the countywide drop-off bins are also eligible for single sort recycling. Please flatten all cardboard boxes and do not bag your recycling items. Refer to the graphic below for additional information.

As of January 2026, residents in the cities of Battle Lake, Henning, and Parkers Prairie can participate in curbside single-sort recycling. Additionally, residents located on lakefront properties on Blanche, Clitherall, Eagle, East Battle, East Leaf, Middle Leaf, Stuart, West Battle, West Leaf, and Silver Lakes receive single-sort recycling service (view map). Blue carts with yellow lids have been delivered to homes in this service area.

Residents in the southeast quadrant who did not receive a cart may still be able to participate in the program; contact your hauler to inquire about your options.
