Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee

This countywide group provides ongoing support and advice to the Emergency Management program, with the goals to:

  • Assure collaborative and coordinated planning & response operations.
  • Identify and supplement resources available to address incidents.
  • Support & assist partner agencies in meeting their requirements and goals.

Emergency & Continuity of Operations Plans

The Emergency Operations Plan provides guidance to county, city, and township officials and partner organizations to carry out their responsibilities under a wide range of emergency conditions, and how everyone will coordinate their efforts to maximize the protection of life and safety.

The Continuity of Operations Plan serves as a guide to keep county government operational and able to provide services to residents, clients, communities, and employees when county facilities, personnel, or resources are impacted by an emergency or disaster.

Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan

Recognizes the natural hazards possible in Otter Tail County and identifies methods to eliminate the threat or reduce its impact. For more information, see Hazard Mitigation.

Outdoor Warning Sirens

There are 27 sirens located throughout Otter Tail County. Otter Tail County activates sirens when a Tornado Warning is issued by the National Weather Service for that area, or when local public safety officials request. All outdoor warning sirens are tested at 1:00pm the first Wednesday of every month.

Training & Exercises

Every emergency response organization and supporting agencies regularly participates in training and exercises focused on their responsibilities and how they fit into the overall structure of emergency response.

Emergency Management often assists in these efforts, and provides training to county departments, communities, and other partners throughout the year. Emergency Management also hosts the annual countywide Emergency Management Summit.
