The Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners welcomed residents to an open house Monday, June 8, at Battle Lake City Hall. The event gave community members a chance to meet commissioners, ask questions, and learn about county services, current projects, and future plans.

Representatives from several county departments attended to share updates and answer questions. Amy Baldwin of the Community Development and Housing team shared information on available resources for childcare, housing, and businesses.
County Engineer Jodi Teich provided an overview of 2026 summer road projects, the county’s Transportation Safety Action Plan, and general highway department updates. Residents can sign up for email updates on highway projects at ottertailcounty.gov/road-construction-and-bridge-projects.
Chris McConn and Brooks Andersen of the Solid Waste Department outlined key projects, including updates on the new Henning Transfer Station, the single-sort recycling pilot program serving the Battle Lake area, and the recently funded Ash Processing Project for the Prairie Lakes Municipal Solid Waste Authority.
District 3 Commissioner Kurt Mortenson thanked attendees. “We appreciated the community’s participation and engagement at the open house,” Mortenson said. “The evening provided an opportunity to connect, hear your thoughts, and have good conversation about our communities.”
