College Student Voting
Before you can vote, you must register. You can check to see if you are a registered voter by visiting Am I Registered to Vote? As a college student you may decide if your college residence is your home, or if your parents residence is your home. You must vote from the address you choose, and you can only vote from one address in each election. See Options 1 and 2 on how to register to vote.
Option 1: Pre-Register to Vote
You can pre-register to vote online or download a voter registration form. To register online you will need your Minnesota driver’s license or a Minnesota identification card number, or the last four numbers of your Social Security number. To register using a paper form download and print the forms, and use these forms to register yourself or to register others.
Pre-Registration must be done 20 days or more before the election.
Option 2: Register to Vote on Election Day
You can register to vote or update your registration when you vote, whether that is at your polling place on Election Day or at an early voting location. You will need proof of residence to register.
