Empowered Worker Program
The Empowered Worker Program is a county-initiated workforce development program that provides training, job placement, and navigation services to individuals. A Workforce Navigator will support participants to overcome barriers to employment and obtain high-demand, household-sustaining jobs. The program will outreach to the untapped and underutilized talent throughout our communities to build a pipeline of empowered workers equipped to fill local employers’ workforce needs. Participants must meet eligibility criteria.
The Empowered Worker Program provides laptop, required school/work uniform, required school supplies, transportation, car repair, and other supportive services to accomplish employment goals.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Empowered Worker Program, an individual must be authorized to work in the United States, must be a resident of the State of Minnesota, must be at least 18 years old, and cannot be enrolled in any K-12 school.
The individual must experience a barrier to employment such as:
- A criminal record
- Inability to access stable housing
- Limited English proficiency
- A self-attested disability
- Income at or below 200% Federal Poverty Guidelines
