County Commissioners host community open house in Fergus Falls

County commissioners hosted a community open house on Nov. 17 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Government Services Center, 500 W. Fir Ave. in Fergus Falls.

The informal gathering gave residents a chance to meet directly with commissioners and county staff to discuss local initiatives and services. It was not a formal Board of Commissioners meeting.

“We were happy to hear from you,” said Commissioner Sean Sullivan, who represents District 5. “These open houses are your chance to meet county staff face-to-face, learn about the services available to you, and share your ideas about the future of your county. I thank the residents who stopped by.”

County employees from several departments were available to share information and answer questions.

Residents met new County Engineer Jodi Teich and heard updates on 2025 construction projects and progress on the long-range 2050 transportation plan. Community development staff had information on new housing and community projects.

The event also featured information about the county’s curbside single-sort recycling pilot program from Natalee Yates, the new public information and education officer for solid waste. Financial services staff outlined a fraud-fighting tool available for residents to sign up for property fraud alerts. Treasurer’s office staff demonstrated how to find and pay taxes online and were available to answer questions.
