Girard Township

Girard Township, organized March 21, 1882, has a name that is borne by townships and villages or cities in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, and other states, in honor of Stephen Girard (b. 1750, d. 1831), of Philadelphia, a wealthy  merchant and philanthropist, founder of Girard College.
